Moldovan premier has meeting with Ambassador of Germany

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today met Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Angela Ganninger. The focus of the discussion was the subject of public investments in infrastructure, planned for 2020.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the PM informed the German official that the cabinet would make massive investments in the roads’ infrastructure, for which public tenders have been already launched for contracting construction works. The national programmes on drinking water supply, solid waste management and streets’ illumination represent priority.
„These are the national projects which will be implemented including from the public investments’ budget. We will obviously continue the projects launched with the financial support of development partners,” Ion Chicu said.
The sides exchanged opinions on the government’s intention to develop the airport infrastructure from Moldova. In the context, the prime minister highlighted Moldova’s need to have one more international airport. Thus, an international company will be contracted to make the feasibility study on the opening of the Balti airport. The cabinet is set to carry out the project from private investments. The PM noted that the opening of the Marculesti airport was easily realizable, as it needs smaller investments, of about 50 million lei. The airport’s functionality will contribute to the development of the Free Economic Zone.
In another context, the officials discussed the problems in the doing business by foreign investors in Moldova, developments of the discussions with IMF, as well as the stage of the justice reform’s implementation. In the context, the prime minister said that the government was determined to implement the recommendations of the Council of Europe’s experts, which see the holding of detailed consultations on the draft laws related to the justice reform.
