Moldovan parliament speaker pays working visit to northern Briceni district

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii paid a working visit to the northern Briceni district today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

During meeting with the heads of the subdivisions and institutions subordinated to Briceni district council, the sides tackled problems and goals in the fields of public money, health, education, social protection, public order, other up-to-date issues. In the context of the budgetary situation, the speaker stressed the need to reduce the dependence of the second-level local authorities on the transfers from the state budget and, respectively, generate own economic growth resources. The sides emphasized the importance to work out a district plan on investments’ attraction.   

As for the social assistance, Zinaida Greceanii mentioned the legislative amendments made in late 2019 for the additional social support of elderly people, persons with disabilities, other categories of residents, from which the population of the Briceni district fully benefits. According to the speaker, increased attention should be paid to the veterans alive, wives to the participants in the war, assimilated people in 2020, when the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the great patriotic war will be marked.    

The parliament speaker noted that the efforts of all civil servants, specialists from the concerned institutions must be focused on a single goal – ensuring the interests of the citizens. “No matter the political affiliation, we must work in the people’s interest, in order to make their living better here, in Moldova,” Greceanii said.  

Referring to the situation in the health sector, the local public authorities from the Briceni district informed that there was enough medical staff in all Health Centres from the district, which allows covering all settlements from the district with first medical aid. The discussions on the subject continued at a meeting with employees of the District Hospital – an institution subordinated to the Briceni district council. The participants in the meeting discussed more topical issues, especially possibilities of motivating young specialists to get employed at the hospital.   

The parliament speaker informed those present about the latest initiatives on improving the situation in the field, especially the intention to endow the medical institutions with new equipment, due to facilitate the providing of specialized medical services and which would enhance the degree of patients’ satisfaction with the services’ quality. “It is important that each of us is aware of his/her full responsibility and the citizens’ expectations, defend the interests of the institutions he/she represents, of the settlement where he/she lives, of the country, in general,” Zinaida Greceanii said. The parliament speaker visited the sections of the Briceni district hospital, discussed with the staff and patients.
