Moldovan head of state meets Venice Commission's president

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon had a meeting with President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio in Strasbourg today, the presidential press service has reported.
Igor Dodon conveyed Gianni Buquicchio sincere congratulations on his re-election as president of the Commission and expressed thanks for the personal assistance provided to mediate the difficult situation from Moldova’s judicial system.
The head of state appreciated the continuous partnership of Moldova with the Council of Europe and Venice Commission, stressing that the expertise provided and the opinions of the Commission were indispensable for adjusting the efforts of advancing the reforms in Moldova.
The Moldovan president reiterated that the justice reform represented one the principal priorities of Moldova’s leadership. Dodon said that, in this respect, the state would promote a justice according to a model accepted by the international community, civil society, experts in the field and the management of Moldova.
Also, Igor Dodon appreciated the Venice Commission’s commitment to urgently consider the draft on the amendment of the law on the Superior Council of Magistracy. Dodon specified that he further relied on the assistance provided to ensure the needed changes for the better of the Moldovan citizens’ living.
