Moldovan PM chairs cabinet meeting

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired a cabinet meeting, on the agenda of which there were 13 subjects, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, Ion Chicu congratulated the employees of the national prosecutor’s office on their professional day. The PM wished them success and urged them to permanently take into account the expectations of the society from the institute of prosecutor’s office.
At a request by the government, Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu informed about the measures undertaken by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSPSM), in order to prevent and control the coronavirus. The ministry undertook the needed measures and no cases of infection have been identified so far.
The participants in the meeting approved the action plan on the road traffic safety for 2020-2021, which implies including the development of the system of monitoring the road traffic, improving the process of getting the driver’s licence, as well as a string of measures due to involve the public authorities of both levels and the civil society.
The government ruled to create the national council of coordination of the activities of prevention and combating the organized crime. The council will be led by the prime minister and will provide for the participation of the prosecutor general and more ministers.
The cabinet approved a string of amendments to normative acts, meant to ensure additional mechanisms of taking care of children who temporarily remained without parental care. The children who have temporarily remained without parents’ supervision, especially the ones whose parents work abroad, will benefit from the effects of the amendments.
The government approved the setting up of the national commission for population and development. The commission’s task is to analyze the evolution of the demographic phenomena, tendencies of development of the population and their impact for a medium and long term. The commission’s goal is to identify efficient ways of changing the demographic tendencies. Taking into account the importance of the subject, the commission will be led by the prime minister.
Education, Culture and Research Minister Corneliu Popovici presented for approval a Memorandum of Understanding between the Education, Culture and Research Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, as a result of which Moldovan students and researchers will get 30 scholarships for study and research in Hungary.
At the today’s meeting, the government appointed Ghenadie Tepordei as director general of the Public Property Agency.
