Moldovan president gives present to Council of Europe on behalf of Moldova

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon gave to the Council of Europe (CoE) an original symbol of Moldova, which is part of the UNESCO heritage of the humanity – the traditional carpet, Pomul Vieții (The Tree of Life), on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of country’s accession to CoE in 2020, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state said that the traditional carpet was representative for Moldova from its northern regions to the south. Igor Dodon stressed that the carped fascinated through a diversity of motifs and represented a heritage we have the duty to convey to the next generations, just as we want to convey the basic values on which the Council of Europe is maintained and is developing – respect for the citizens, rule of law state, fair justice and freedom of expression.
