Moldovan president meets co-rapporteurs of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe for Moldova

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon had a meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for Moldova, Egidijus Vareikis and Maryvonne Blondin, in Strasbourg on 29 January.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state welcomed the fact-collecting visit paid by Vareikis and Blondin in July 2019 and the one by the delegation of the group of rapporteurs for democracy of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers in October 2019, which shows an increased interest on behalf of CoE for Moldova, continuing the democratic way and advancement of the needed reforms.
Igor Dodon reiterated the position of the current governance on the justice reform and appreciated the result of the last week discussions in Chisinau, held by the ad-hoc group for justice reform, set up to this end. The president noted that Moldova was determined to promote a truthful reform, in strict accordance with the international standards.
Also, the head of state gave assurances that Moldova would fulfill its commitments taken for the completion of the procedure of the country’s monitoring by PACE and advancement to another structural level with PACE, which is one of the goals of the present government.
In another context, the officials tackled aspects on the Transnistrian conflict settlement.
In the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon pointed out that the leadership relied on a constructive and fruitful cooperation and dialogue in continuation.
