Moldovan PM meets Kazakh counterpart

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu has had a meeting with PM of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin in Almaty, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The two prime ministers discussed a wide range of issues on the bilateral social and economic cooperation.
In the beginning of the meeting, the Kazakh PM said: “I welcome you in Kazakhstan. I am sure that your visit will stimulate the bilateral cooperation. I think that the potential of the cooperation is much greater than the current one and we are willing to undertake the needed measures.”
Ion Chicu thanked for the invitation to the Digital Forum held in Almaty and confirmed: “We believe that the potential of Moldova’s cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union is great and still has not been turned to account. And the participation in the Digital Forum is a possibility to exchange experience.”
The exchange of goods between Moldova and Kazakhstan in January-November 2019 registered 19 million dollars, while the export from Moldova recorded a decrease. Askar Mamin referred to the fact that the Kazakh business was looking for investment regions and projects and Moldova should be brought to the focus of searches.
The PMs voiced intention to stimulate the work of the inter-governmental commission, in order to identify mutually advantageous projects. The officials agreed to boost the communication between the governments, in order to foster the bilateral commercial ties, as well as the cultural exchanges.
In the end of the meeting, Prime Minister Ion Chicu invited Askar Mamin to pay a visit to Moldova.
As many as 20,000-30,000 people born in Moldova live in Kazakhstan, especially in the Karaganda region. These are, in particular, persons subjected to repressions or their descendants. The association, Dacii (The Dacians), led by Nicolae Pliușkis, is registered in the Karaganda city.
