New Russian PM says Russia willing to strengthen relations with Moldova

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
Ion Chicu congratulated Mikhail Mishustin on his swearing in the office of prime minister of Russia. He wished him success and showed confidence that the Moldova-Russia relations would continue the quick evolution.
Mikhail Mishustin thanked for congratulations and confirmed the intention to back the positive evolution of the bilateral ties and the fostering of the trade between the states.
At the meeting, the PMs tackled a string of priority subjects on the bilateral agenda, such as the increase in the export of Moldovan products to the Russian market, levying of customs duties on import, simplifying the access to both markets, etc.
Ion Chicu asked his Russian counterpart to support Moldova’s request to become a member state of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), to which Mikhail Mishustin reacted positively.
„We are happy with the interest of Russian companies in our market. We had a meeting with the EDB president in Chisinau, during which we discussed possibility to finance the construction of an agro-industrial hub, as well as the willingness to finance other projects,” PM Ion Chicu said.
Mihail Mishustin gave assurances that its government was willing to strengthen the relations between Moldova and Russia and boost the bilateral commerce.
