Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - An eight-year-old child, who has recently returned from Romania, is suspected of being ill with measles. Specialists of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP) investigate the case.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the ANSP information and communication service, Olesea Croitor, has said that the child was not vaccinated against measles and presently benefited from needed medical care and ANSP specialists collected laboratory samples from him.
At the same time, Croitor noted that the presence of measles had been confirmed one week ago in case of a teacher working at a lyceum from Sangera, Chisinau municipality.
Ninety confirmed cases of measles were registered in 2019 and 340 – in 2018.
Physicians epidemiologists remind residents that measles is an extremely contagious disease, which is spreading quickly. The first sign of the infection is the high fever, which lasts 1-7 days. Generalized eruptions appear 3-4 days after the fever begins. Pneumonia is the most frequent cause of death in measles.
