Moldovan, Hungarian officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan President Igor Dodon today met with Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó, who is on a visit to Chisinau, the presidential press service has reported.

Dodon noted the intensity of the Moldovan-Hungarian political and diplomatic dialogue, which is a signal of strengthening the relations between two states. In this context, he pointed out boosting the Moldovan-Hungarian cooperation at the parliamentary level, in the context of the visit paid to Hungary by Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi.

Dodon thanked for keeping Moldova in the list of priority states for assistance from Hungary, a country that has carried out over 40 projects in Moldova to promote and deepen economic and political cooperation.

At the same time, the president opted for boosting trade. He said that according to the trade volume, Hungary ranks 13th among the main trading partners of the Republic of Moldova, accounting for 1.42% of the total trade of our country.

In this context, Dodon said that the current government has an ambitious infrastructure investment agenda and has encouraged Hungarian businesses to participate in these projects.

At the end of the meeting, the president welcomed the willingness of Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban to visit Moldova in March, and launched the initiative to sign a strategic cooperation agreement between our states during the visit.
