As much as 500,000 tons of mud stocked at Chisinau-based water-purifying station

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - As much as 500,000 tons of mud are stocked at the Chisinau-based water-purifying station. The fermenting of this mud is the reason for the unpleasant smell faced by the Chisinau city.  

The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, today paid an inspection visit to the deposits of stocking the mud and the geo-tube platforms from the residual water-purifying station from the Moldovan capital. Ceban said that the situation recorded at present can be described as “ecological catastrophe” and accused the former leaderships of the municipality of irresponsibility for the situation emerged.     

According to the acting director general of the Apa-Canal Chisinau Company, Anatolie Lichii, the water-purifying station daily processes 140 tons of residual waters and after processing through dehydrating, those 70 tons of mud are stocked in one of the three reservoirs with a depth of 10-12 metres. As much as 500,000 tons of mud has already accumulated in the three reservoirs.  

Anatolie Lichii said that, till 1 March 2020, Apa-Canal Chisinau, following consultations with foreign experts, would come up with a plan for annihilating the unpleasant smells and avoiding the worsening of the situation.
