Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, today inspected the deposits for stocking mud and the geo-tube platforms from the residual water-purifying station of Moldova’s capital.
The acting director general of the Apa-Canal Chisinau company, Anatolie Lichii, at the inspection said that “the stocking of mud in geo-tubes was a temporary solution which, given the lack of solution, has turned permanent.” According to Lichii, at present, there are 128 geo-tubes on the area of the Chisinau-based water-purifying station, in which 500,000 tons of mud is stocked. At the same time, Lichii noted that the ways of processing the mud, which are enforced in other EU capitals or in the space of the Commonwealth of Independent States, cannot be applied in Chisinau.
For his part, the head of the quality control department at Apa-Canal Chisinau, Arcadie Rusnac, said that the mud resulted following the processing through dehydrating contained helminthes, and hence, it cannot be buried. “The lakes for stocking mud, which resulted from dehydrating, are from 2012; 500,000 tons of mud is stocked there. Their depth of the three lakes is of 10-12 metres. The noxious emissions resulted from the evaporation of the mud stocked are big. I do not rule out the presence of a pathogenic micro-flora in the air,” Rusnac said.
The Chisinau general mayor, Ion Ceban, said “this ecological situation is a novel one.” He specified that Apa-Canal Chisinau, along with foreign experts, would present to the city hall solutions to solve this problem till 1 March 2020.
