Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Consolidated Programme Implementation Unit of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (UCIP-IFAD) has informed about the launch of the contest on reception of applications for getting competitive grants for the rehabilitation and creation of protection plantations, due to be founded within two projects in 2020. The deadline for submitting the applications is 10 March.
The grants are backed by the Inclusive Rural Economic and Climate Resilience Programme and the Rural Resilience Project, in order to protect and prevent the soil erosion, protect agricultural crops, animals and buildings. Also, the programme provides for the increase of revenues from the correct management of forest/fruit-growing belts/plantations, as a result of getting the high-quality wood, firewood and non-wood forest products: edible nuts, berries and mushrooms, medicinal plants, seeds, tree, bush cuttings, etc.
The maximum area founded/rehabilitated per one beneficiary will not exceed ten hectares. The costs for the restoration/foundation of protection forest belts will be fully paid from the project’s grant, but not more than: 1,300 dollar/hectare for covering the rehabilitation costs; 3,000/hectare for covering the foundation costs.
The grants will be provided to local public administrations, on contest basis, for the following categories: protection belts, river belts for waters’ protection, hedges or wind protection devices, belts of fruit trees and fruit bushes.
The cooperation between Moldova and the International Fund for Agricultural Development started in 1999.
