Parliament speaker, premier of Armenia to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today met Ambassador of Armenia to Moldova Jivan Movsisyan. In the beginning of the meeting, the officials appreciated the friendship relations between the two countries and confirmed intention to develop the bilateral cooperation, especially on the commercial and economic dimension, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

In the context, the sides discussed possibility of holding a meeting of the Moldovan-Armenian intergovernmental commission in Chisinau as soon as possible. The officials welcomed the initiative to carry out also a forum of business people from Armenia, which would enhance opportunities to increase the trade between the two countries.

Ion Chicu highlighted the possibilities provided by the Free Economic Zones (FEZ) to producers oriented to export to the EU market. For his part, Jivan Movsisyan described Armenia’s opportunities within the Free Trade Agreement with Iran. The officials exchanged opinions on how they might mutually turn to good account the current resources.  

The ambassador of Armenia informed the PM about the evolution of the bilateral ties at various levels. Thus, the diplomat said that the Armenian parliament speaker and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan planned to pay official visit to Moldova. The ambassador pointed out willingness to organize also working visits, at ministerial level, in order to exchange experience in the justice, culture and other sectors.    

„I praise your work aimed at developing the bilateral relations. It is our duty to support each other and use all available resources to enhance the potential of the commercial and economic cooperation between our countries,” Ion Chicu said.   

In the end, the ambassador of Armenia wished the PM success in the carrying out of the Action Plan proposed by the cabinet, aimed at improving the people’s well-being.
