Moldova-EU Association Committee to hold meeting on 19 February

Chisinau, 5 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu said in the beginning of a today’s meeting of the Governmental Commission for European Integration: “This is the second meeting of this Commission within our cabinet. We have 3 items on the agenda, including the checking of the fulfillment of the decisions adopted at the previous meeting from 11 December 2019,”the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The Commission considered the results of the implementation of the National Action Plan on the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement on the period 2017-2019. The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry unveiled the situation.
Minister Aureliu Ciocoi presented a report on the progress made in the carrying out of the National Action Plan on the implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. In the context, the minister informed about the rate of fulfillment of the actions planned and stressed the need to boost efforts on the dimension of responsibility of the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry and Economics and Infrastructure Ministry.
Prime Minister Chicu asked to focus attention on the implementation actions and suggested that the ministries nominate state secretaries in charge of the carrying out of the actions contained in the National Plan.
The Commission discussed the preparations for the meeting of the Association Committee, scheduled for 19 February 2020. Minister Ciocoi informed about the goals of the meeting and aspects which must be prepared by the Moldovan government. The ministers discussed the conditions due to be fulfilled by Moldova and the stage of fulfillment for each condition.
The PM asked the competent authorities to take needed measures to ensure the maximal progress for each condition till the date of the Association Committee’s meeting.
