Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - The executive body of the Autonomous Territorial Gagauz-Yeri has worked out and approved a plan of events from the autonomy for 2020, some of which will be included in the map of tourist destinations.

According to the deputy head of the regional department for economic development and tourism, Tatiana Spatarenco, the first event is the popular holiday Hederlez, marked on 6 May, when the old-style orthodox Christians celebrate the Saint George holiday. On this occasion, a festive programme is traditionally organized in Ceadar-Lunga – the main event being the horse races.

A regional festival of national costume, Gagauz Gergefi, is scheduled to be held in Comrat on 13 June. Also in summer, on 8 July, the holiday of the family, love and faith will be marked in Cazaclia and a regional festival of carpets, Gagauz kilimneri, will take place in the Gaidar village on 16 August.

Another large-scale event in the autonomy represents the wine festival, Gagauz Şarap Yortusu, scheduled to be held in Comrat on 1 November.

Spatarenco noted that the setting of the exact dates and places of the events in the autonomy allowed including them in Moldova’s cultural tourist calendar, distributing information through tourism agencies, mass media, etc.

“The creation of new tourist routes and the organization of events represent an important element in the promotion of Gagauzia both in Moldova and abroad,” the governor of the autonomy, Irina Vlah said, cited by the website www.gagauzinfo.md.
