Moldovan parliament to discuss draft of Moldovan-French convention on avoidance of double taxation

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France to Moldova Pascal Le Deunff, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials reviewed the cooperation relations between the two countries and discussed the prospect for their extension at the parliamentary level, as well as in the commercial, economic, social, education, regional sectors.
Zinaida Greceanii informed the ambassador about the authorities’ efforts to improve the framework conditions for investors and, in particular, about the fact that a draft of the convention between the governments of Moldova and France on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion on the income taxes was in the legislative procedure.
In another context, the sides discussed the developments in the justice reform. The parliament speaker reiterated the importance that this subject is subjected to as wider as possible consultations with the civil society and professional community. “The justice reform is made not for the sake of a party, but for the country’s citizens; therefore, it must represent the people’s expectations and have a long-lasting effect,” the speaker said.
In the context, Zinaida Greceanii informed the French diplomat about the creation of the consultative platform of civil society’s representatives under the parliament of Moldova. “The platform’s doors are open for the non-governmental organizations willing to contribute to a better reform in justice and to the strengthening of the rule of law state in Moldova,” Zinaida Greceanii stressed.
