Wind farm providing 15 per cent of annual energy consumption might be constructed in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today had a meeting Ana Maria Mihaescu, a consultant of the firm Energo Continent, which develops a wind farm of 120 MW in southern Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
The project was initiated in 2010, in cooperation with the Investments Fund Infra Ventures of the International Finance Corporation – the World Bank’s investment division and its goal is to produce wind energy. The annual production of this project can provide about 15 per cent of the yearly consumption of energy in Moldova.
Energo Continent, if receiving the confirmation that the project fits, in continuation, the energy strategy of Moldova, will finish the steps for attracting strategic investors in the project’s financing and implementation.
Igor Dodon welcomed the investor’s intentions, stressing Moldova’s interest in the promotion of projects on renewable energy. In the context, the head of state gave assurances that he would back the carrying out of this project.
