Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/- The Moldovan government approved a lot of measures to prevent bird flu virus in the country. The decision will enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of Moldova on 14 February.
Under the government decision, it is prohibited from all regions of Ukraine, until declared by the World Organization for Animal Health as a country or area free from avian influenza, according to the Land Code, the import of poultry, captive birds or other birds, products and by-products obtained therefrom, susceptible to bird flu virus.
At the same time, the National Agency for Food Safety will monitor and examine every request of the economic operators on the import of the products provided in the government's decision, regardless of country of origin.
The Republican Veterinary Diagnosis Center will ensure urgently the reception of samples, in case of suspicion of avian influenza, which will be subject to review within maximum 24 hours or send them to international laboratories.
At the state border crossing points, within the customs controls of goods and baggage, upon entering the Republic of Moldova from Ukraine, the Customs Service will identify and pick up the goods provided in the decision, and at the crossing points where the customs bodies are missing, the activities will be done by Border Police.
The control over the execution of the decision is the responsibility of the National Agency for Food Safety.
