Chisinau Arena sports complex to be officially opened on 1 May 2020

Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today visited the Chisinau Arena sports complex, the construction works of which are at the final stage, at the level of 99 per cent, the presidential press service has reported.
Igor Dodon ascertained with satisfaction the high quality and the impressive volume of the works carried out. The head of state noted that, following discussions with Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the leadership had ruled to officially open the sports complex on 1 May 2020.
At the same time, the president stressed that, as early as in the first weeks of next May, international competitions of water polo, volley ball and basketball would be organized at Chisinau Arena, given that the sports complex drew increased attention of more foreign sports federations, including the European Seniors Basketball Association.
The head of state reiterated that Moldova needed such objects, which do not exist either in the country or in the region.
It is worth mentioning that the big hall, with a capacity of 5,500 people audience, is multifunctional and can host both sports competitions and cultural events. The sports complex includes several pools, tennis courts, a fitness hall and a SPA zone.
Igor Dodon emphasized the importance of the opening of sports sections for children, including from disadvantaged families, at this sports complex.
