Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s Embassy in Japan continues monitoring the situation of the cruise ship Diamond Princess, which anchored in the Japanese port Yokohama and is in direct connection with the Moldovan citizens, whose condition is good. The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today made statements to this effect today.
According to the ministry, the embassy’s consular section identified three Moldovan citizens (two men and one woman) onboard of the ship, of whom two hold dual citizenship – of Moldova and Romania, and their health condition is good. “To observe the confidentiality of the personal data, we respectfully request the spread of only official information to the public opinion,” MAEIE said.
Also, the ministry noted that “in Japan, there is no major hotbed of coronavirus (COVID – 2019 virus), except the Diamond Princess cruise ship, which is in quarantine in the Yokohama port.” “There is no major reason for concern for eventual travel to the Asian state. Nevertheless, as a result of recommendations by the World Health Organization, the government of Japan ordered protection and caution measures. Thus, citizens are recommended to bear masks, if they have symptoms of cough and to observe the personal hygiene,” sources from Moldova’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
In the context of preventing the contamination with COVID-19 virus, special centres were opened in Japan, where phone consultations are provided in the Japanese, English and Chinese languages. At the same time, Moldova’s Embassy in Japan collects additional information and offers consultations at the emergency phone number established at the diplomatic mission: + 810 80 8850 7372.
