Moldovan president has meeting with delegation of lawmakers of German Bundestag

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon, in the end of the first working day of the Munich International Security Conference, in which over 40 heads of state and government take part, on 14 February had a meeting with a delegation of MPs of the German Bundestag, led by the deputy head of the Bundestag committee on security and defence, head of the German-Moldovan forum Fritz Felgentreu, the presidential press service has reported.  

The head of state thanked the German partners for the constant and multilateral support provided to Moldova, practically in all sectors of major interest: the economy and social sphere, education, health, ecology, as well as in the process of the country’s reformation.

The officials exchanged opinions on Moldova’s domestic and foreign policy. The Moldovan president informed the German officials about the ambitious programme of reforms the current government of Moldova was set to carry out.

In particular, the head of state reconfirmed the country’s attachment to the promotion of a balanced foreign policy, which implies the fulfillment of the international commitments taken, including the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union and re-establishment of a full strategic partnership with Russia.  

As for the domestic transformations in Moldova, the president emphasized the Moldovan leadership’s firm determination to implement the justice reform, in strict accordance with the recommendations of the foreign partners and by observing the international norms and standards.

At the same time, Igor Dodon pointed out the importance of a direct dialogue between the Moldovan top leadership and the foreign partners, which will allow them receiving objective information from the first source on the events from Moldova.

In the end of the meeting, the head of state reiterated the country’s willingness to continue the direct and open dialogue with Germany, in order to strengthen the bilateral relations and dialogue between Moldova and EU.
