Moldovan president meets executive director of German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon had a meeting with the executive director of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations, Michael Harms, in Germany today, the presidential press service has reported.
At the meeting, the head of state stressed Germany’s significant role as one of the most important trade partners of Moldova and one of the most active investors in the country’s economy.
At the same time, Igor Dodon said that, on the period January – September 2019, the volume of Moldovan goods exported to Germany had increased by 11 per cent against the same period of the year before, although the imports from this country continued exceeding Moldova’s exports.
The president welcomed the fact that there were about 430 enterprises with German capital in Moldova and the volume of investments exceeded 770 million lei.
Also, the officials discussed a visit to Chisinau by representatives of 16 big German companies in next March, to participate in an economic forum. Igor Dodon noted that Moldova’s top leadership would take part in this event. The sides were unanimous in the opinion that this meeting would boost the bilateral cooperation.
The head of state informed the German official about the strategic investment projects announced by Moldova’s leadership in the fields of transports, energy, logistics, information technologies and other priority sectors. Igor Dodon urged the business community of Germany to invest in these and other projects.
