Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/- The Prosecutor General's Office has set up a control, monitoring and evaluation group for 38 criminal cases on which it suspects that they would be political.

Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo said he took note of statements and report of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, indicating a list of files with suspicions of illegal, abusive, selective and politically motivated of some people in Moldova.

He announced he has decided to set up a group of six prosecutors who will evaluate and submit reports on each criminal case, included in the list, both in the criminal prosecution phase, as well as in the judicial or, as appropriate, enforcement phase. "The group will make a report for each criminal case, and the information will be analyzed by the leadership of prosecution," said Stoianoglo.

If serious deviations from the law will be established when initiating and investigating these criminal cases, the legal measures will be taken accordingly.

Namely, the files in the criminal prosecution stage will be classified. For those already on the role of the courts - the prosecutors will give up the accusations brought or they will come with orders to restore the facts, and on the files under execution phase it will check the eventuality of launching extraordinary appeal procedures.
