Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/- Six MPs have left the parliamentary faction of the Democratic Party.
Democrat Andrian Candu announced on Wednesday that, along with a group of colleagues, is leaving the Democratic Party and is going to create another parliamentary faction. The group is made up of Andrian Candu, Sergiu Sîrbu, Grigore Repeșciuc, Vladimir Cebotari, Eleonora Graur and Corneliu Padnevici.
“The PDM was a strong and professional team. The party with the largest number of mayors and the second parliamentary faction has lost its efficiency and falls into a slump from which it does not wake up. This disappoints the society and the members, through lack of initiative, reaction and positioning. We must be part of a formation with a clear identity ” Candu said.
He said that at the joint meeting of the leaders of the Democratic Party and the Socialist Party, negotiations started to create a parliamentary coalition between these groups.
For his part, PDM leader Pavel Filip noted he took note of the announcement made by Candu group. "It was a predictable decision, given certain events in recent months. It is more than differences of vision between the party and this group and I think that their decision is the best, which will help both the PDM and this group of colleagues to evolve further, including through possible future collaboration on projects,” he said.
Both the Socialists and Democrats have denied that negotiations between the two political groups would be held to create a parliamentary coalition.
