Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved amendment of the methodology of providing facilities to young specialists with medical and pharmaceutical education employed in rural settlements, according to the distribution of the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry. The amendment sees that the one-off allowance for the young physicians will be increased up to 120,000 lei.

Under the cabinet’s decision, the facilities for this social category will represent “the one-off allowance worth 120,000 lei for physicians and pharmacists and 96,000 lei for the medical and pharmaceutical staff with vocational education, which is paid in three equal installments, worth 40,000 lei each and, respectively, 32,000 lei each, after the expiration of the first month of work and subsequently, at the end of each activity year.”

According to the provisions from 2017, the one-off allowance stood at 45,000 lei for physicians and pharmacists and 36,000 lei for the medium medical and pharmaceutical staff, which was paid in three equal installments, worth 15,000 lei each and respectively, 12,000 lei each, after the expiration of the first month of work and subsequently, at the end of each activity year”.

The reason for increasing the one-off allowance for physicians and pharmacists due to work in villages is the fact that “presently, the national health system of Moldova faces an acute crisis of qualified medical staff, which would be necessary to provide the entire spectrum of quality medical services to Moldova’s residents.”

At the same time, these measures are seen to “ensure the continuity in the management of human resources from the health sector nationally, the enhancing of the attractiveness for young specialists of the jobs from Moldova’s national public health system, will result in the employment of the medical personnel in the country’s national public health system.”

The government plans to earmark financial means worth 48.7 million lei from the state budget for 1,260 beneficiaries, in order to pay the increased allowances.
