Chisinau-based theatre to bear name of Iuri Harmelin

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - The State Youth Drama Theatre С улицы Роз (From Roses Street) will bear the official name of Iuri Harmelin. The government members approved a decision to this effect at a today’s cabinet meeting.

Iuri Harmelin is the founder, artistic leader and chief stage manager of the State Youth Drama Theatre С улицы Роз. The artist is master in art, merited professor of Moldova, Knight of the Labour Glory Order, as well as of the Order of the Republic. Harmelin graduated from the Institute of Foreign Languages from Pyatigorsk (Russia), Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute from Moscow (specialty stage management) at the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Academic Theatre.

During his work, Iuri Harmelin has promoted and turned to account truthful theatre works, both on stages of Moldova and at diverse international artistic forums. He is the founder of the International Theatre Festival, Moldfest.rampa.ru, in which the most representative theatre troupes of the country and from abroad participate.
