Moldovan, European officials approach justice reform

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/- Today Prime Minister Ion Chicu had a talk with Gianni Buquicchio, President of the Venice Commission. The officials exchanged views on the justice reform and the actions due to be taken in the next period, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Chicu thanked the official for the active assistance and high expertise provided to the Moldovan government. The consolidation of the justice sector is on the list of government priorities and all specialized capacities are focused on the issue.

Gianni Buquicchio praised the constructive dialogue of the Venice Commission with Chisinau government. He approached the importance of progress in justice reform for social and economic development of Moldova.

The premier voiced hope that benefiting from the assistance of the Venice Commission, the Moldovan authorities will be able to provide in short terms higher quality and confidence in justice.

The European official assured the premier of support in adjusting the national legislation to European standards and ensuring the independence and integrity of justice.
