Moldovan speaker meets Venice Commission President

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/- Today Speaker Zinaida Greceanîi had a meeting with Gianni Buquicchio, President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) and members of the Group of rapporteuts for Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The discussions focused on developments in the justice reform, especially the selection of non-judicial members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM).
Greceanii reiterated the interest and firm determination of the authorities for a transparent process, with the participation of the society and the professional environment, so that the winners of the competition would become the most deserving in terms of professionalism and integrity. In this context, the speaker launched the invitation to the Venice Commission to delegate its representatives to follow the selection process of the non-judge members of the CSM.
Greceanii reiterated the Moldovan parliament thanks for the valuable support provided by the Venice Commission in the justice reform.
"You are a true friend of the Republic of Moldova and we greatly appreciate this," the speaker said.
Gianni Buquicchio shared the objective to implement an effective reform in Moldova, as well as the interest of the European institution for the country's progress in the process of democratization and sustainable economic development.
