Works for restoration of Hancesti-Giurgiulesti road start in Moldova

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - The national road R34 Hancesti-Leova-Cahul-Giurgiulesti, with an overall length of 83 km, will be restored based in a contract signed today between the State Administration of Roads and the OZKA Insaat A.S. Company from Turkey.
„The restoration of this segment is essential for the country’s economic development and namely stimulates investments, cuts the costs of vehicles’ operation, facilitates the movement of citizens through the connection between settlements and easies the access to the social infrastructure,” the state secretary at the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry, Mihail Lupascu, has said at the ceremony on the contract’s signing.
According to the acting director of the State Administration of Roads, Andrei Cuculescu, the time scheduled for completing the works is of 915 days and 365 days for the guarantee period. The contract is worth 28.6 million euros for the Consignment 1 and 27.8 million euros for the Consignment 2.
The financial support for the carrying out of the contract will be provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The national road R34 starts to the west from Hancesti, where it branches out from the road R33 through Leova, Cantemir and Cahul to Slobozia Mare, intersecting the M3 road in the north part of the Giurgiulesti port. This road has a length of 167.6 km and goes to the south, south-west up to Cantemir, where it continues to the southern part of the Slobozia Mare settlement.
