Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today communicated with media representatives in the parliament’s conference hall, after a group of MPs had blocked the parliament’s rostrum, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The PM said that the initiative to inform the parliament about the results of the first 100 days of the Chicu government’s work had come from the cabinet. The government ended the 2019 year with a budget deficit of 2.4 percentage points and reduced the public debt to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 1.9 percentage points. Public investments worth about 7 billion lei in infrastructure are planned for 2020, preponderantly in the construction of roads, meant to improve the living standards and determine the creation of industrial platforms in all Moldova’s districts.

Ion Chicu referred to Moldova’s convictions at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the costs coming, noting that the responsibility for these costs must be put on magistrates.

The prime minister touched upon the effects of the political conflicts which sharpen the division of the society and hit the investment intentions. The public tension triggered by conflicts is one of the decisive factors which compromise young people’s intention to live in Moldova.

Ion Chicu answered questions by journalists on the insufficiency of some cabinet members, moratorium on the enforcement of the law on getting Moldova’s citizenship in exchange for investments, efficient use of water resources, etc.
