Parliament speaker welcomes coming of new ambassador of Ireland to Moldova

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today met Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ireland to Moldova Paul Mcgarry, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Zinaida Greceanii congratulated Paul Mcgarry on his appointments as ambassador to Moldova, wishing him success in the promotion of the good relations between Moldova and Ireland.
The parliament speaker assured the Irish diplomat of the authorities’ every openness for the development of a close cooperation with Ireland and spoke out for turning to good account the vast cooperation potential.
In particular, the speaker declared for boosting the parliamentary cooperation, as well as in the economic and social sectors, especially as numerous Moldovan citizens have settled in Ireland in the last years.
In this context, Paul Mcgarry said that Moldova’s citizens who work in Ireland represented their origin country with dignity. According to the diplomat, due to this fact, Irishmen are more and more interested in Moldova, including as an attractive tourist destination.
In the end, the speaker conveyed congratulations to Chairperson of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament, Seán Ó Fearghaíl, on his re-election to this office.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Ireland were established on 30 September 1999.
