Moldovan head of state participates in opening of exhibition dedicated to 75th anniversary of Great Victory

Chisinau, 21 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon, along with Ambassador of Belarus to Moldova Sergey Chichuk and Ambassador of Russia Oleg Vasnetsov, as well as representatives of the Belarusian Diaspora, public organizations and veterans, today participated in the opening of an exhibition titled, Belarus lives, Belarus fights…, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The event is organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Moldova and the Belarusian Culture Centre in Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.      

The head of state said that the exhibition’s organizers had impressed through the approaching of the subjects and namely by the way they displayed the contribution of the Belarusian nation to the Victory over the fascism, based on unique fund materials.   

The exhibition shows the fights of defence in Belarus in the summer of 1941, the German-fascist occupation regime, the anti-fascist clandestine fight and the movement of partisans, the Motherland’s liberation from the occupants.  

A special interest arouses an illustrated project titled, The Song of Wood, which represents ten banners, the life and fight of Belarusian partisans, based on documents of the National Archive and National Library of Belarus.  

Igor Dodon said that this exhibition inspired with the attitude we should have towards the acts of heroism from the past. “The Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the keeping of memory about that event are the uncontested facts which have united and will unite our nations,” the head of state said.
