Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/- Minibuses no longer belong on the streets of the capital, and the city hall has to find money to buy buses. Prime Minister Ion Chicu made the statement today at the end of a working meeting with President Igor Dodon.
Minibuses cannot be removed immediately, but once funds are found to purchase more buses and trolleybuses, this type of transport should disappear. "The city hall should find additional money to buy new means of transport, so that finally our city looks like civilized, European cities. In my opinion, the minibuses have already exceeded their age,” he said.
This morning, several carriers operating the minibus routes in Chisinau municipality announced they are stopping their activity in protest of the refusal of municipal authorities to increase the tariff for a trip.
