Yellow Code of risk of infection with coronavirus established in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - A Yellow Code on infection with coronavirus Covid-19 has been established in Moldova nationally. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made statements to this effect at a meeting of the Public Health Commission on the epidemiological situation, summoned by Prime Minister Ion Chicu.
Dumbraveanu said that Moldova was complying with the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendations on the measures of protection against the infection with Covid-19 and the competent institution had an action plan already. The minister also said that two thermo-scanners would work at the Chisinau International Airport starting from today and employees of the Public Health Agency had trained customs officers and border policemen as to measures of identifying patients sick with Covid-19.”The yellow code implies enhancing the measures of protection and control and the authorities in charge, such as the Interior Ministry (MAI), Border Police department, Finance Ministry, Customs Service, Civil Aviation Authority, Avia invest, Chisinau International Airport, Railway of Moldova, Giurgiulesti Port and the heads of the international routes will act according to the algorithms pointed by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS),” Dumbraveanu said.
The minister also informed that tests for detecting Covid-19 had been brought to Moldova and the ANSP laboratory had been endowed with the needed components for collecting the biological material. Dumbraveanu noted that the Toma Ciorba hospital of infectious diseases was prepared to receive patients suspected of being infected with Covid-19 and the medical staff from all specialized institutions of Moldova was provided with gloves, equipment and masks for protection.
The official specified that the stocks of the hospitals had been supplied with the Tamiflu medicine against flu and a new informative spot about the symptoms of Cpovid-19 would be soon launched.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu demanded that the competent authorities maintain an enhanced degree of vigilance and observe the recommendations, including the international ones.
The first death of coronavirus was recorded in northern Italy, where there are big communities of Moldovans, in late last week. On 23 February, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry warned Moldova’s citizens who stay in Italy to strictly observe the recommendations of the Italian authorities, given that the number of confirmed cases of infection with Covid-19 virus has increased in this country.
WHO’s data shows that, since the beginning of the epidemic of the new-type Coronavirus (COVID-19), as many as 78,833 clinically and laboratory confirmed cases of infection have been reported and 2,465 deaths, of which 2,445 in China, Iran (5), Korea (5), Italy (4), Philippines (1), Japan (1), France (1), Taiwan (1).
