Moldovan foreign affairs minister gives speech at session of UN Human Rights Council

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today gave a speech at the High-Level Segment of the 43rd Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, held in Geneva on 24-26 February, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s press service has reported.
In his speech, the Moldovan diplomacy head referred to the special importance attached by the Moldovan government to the protection and promotion of human rights and implementation of the justice reform. At the same time, the minister stressed the fact that the full carrying out of the rights of each person was not possible without an independent, integral and professional justice, which is to generate the fundamental rights and freedoms.
Special attention was paid to the situation concerning the human rights in the Transnistrian region. He brought to the attention of the international community cases of illegal detention, as well as numerous other serious infringements committed in this region.
Minister Aureliu Ciocoi ended his speech with an appeal addressed to the international community to intervene in the settlement of individual cases, along with the creation of an efficient mechanism of monitoring the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region.
