Chisinau- Green City strategic planning launched

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/- Today Chisinau city hall received the Strategic Planning Chisinau - Green City, the necessary basis for the activity of Chisinau municipality that ecologically connects all the projects that will be implemented.
The program is part of the Green Cities framework scheme and aims to contribute to improving environmental performance and economic and social conditions in Chisinau.
Attending the event, Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said this document offers a favorable environment for economic development of the municipality, while maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the inhabitants of the city ”. "It is one of the largest projects focused on modernization not only from the point of view of buildings, but also of ensuring high standards of living for citizens, for a constructive dialogue between authorities and civil society, for a clean and healthy environment and for promoting tourism" he said.
The document proposes seven sectors of urban development of Chisinau municipality: energy, water, solid waste, industry, public buildings, land use and public transport. Among the strategic goals are: evaluation and monitoring of the process of sustainable urban development; ensuring attractive, comfortable and energy efficient transport alternatives; the creation of an infrastructure resistant to climate change; increasing energy efficiency and sustainable management of resources and waste.
According to Deputy Mayor Victor Chironda, "this Strategic Planning is the red thread that links all Chisinau development projects, from the renewal of the urban trolleybus park to the promotion of energy-generating buildings or the revitalization of the industrially decommissioned areas."
The document was worked out in August 2018 - February 2020 by a consortium of environmental experts, with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Federal Ministry of Austria. The Chisinau City Hall will forward this document for approval to the Municipal Council.
