Work of Moldova's Termoelectrica stock company to be optimized

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The work of the Termoelectrica stock company will be improved with the World Bank’s (WB) support. A project which provides for investments worth 100 million dollars today was discussed by Economics and Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii with a WB experts’ team.
According to the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry’s press service, the subject of the discussion was focused on the programme for preparation for a new project in the thermal-energy sector, which will be carried out with the technical and financial support of the World Bank. The project sees improvement of the operational efficiency and financial viability of the Termoelectrica stock company, as well as the upgrading of the quality, safety of heating supply services provided to the Chisinau residents.
The project envisages investments amounting to 100 million dollars and has at its basis three principal components: optimizing the generation of the thermal energy, pilot investments in energy efficiency, project management and technical assistance.
The World Bank’s experts said that the first component would finance the modernization of the Thermal Electric Power Station Source 1 and the setting of internal combustion engines on natural gas, installation of a new System of Information and Management and Hydraulic Management System, in order to enhance and optimize the efficiency of the production of thermal and electric energy by Termoelectrica.
The project’s programme is to be approved by the World Bank’s Administrative Council in mid-June 2020.
