Import of some food products to be facilitated in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/ - The MPs today adopted, in two readings, a draft law which facilitates the import of some food products, especially those which are not produced in Moldova.  

Under the legislation in force, starting from 22 February 2020, the import of food products with the validity term of up to 90 days, in case less than 30 days of the validity term remains, was banned. As a result of the amendments made at the today’s plenary meeting, the term of 30 days was replaced by the syntagm ‘’one third.’’   

According to the authors, the approval of the draft will remove the technical obstacles to commerce. ‘’Thus, the domestic market of Moldova will be able to be provided with a wide spectrum of foodstuffs and consumers will be given possibility to choose from a vast assortment of goods,’’ the informative note to the draft reads.
