Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo has criticized the work of the Prosecutor General’s Office, carried out so far, and asked the prosecutors “to detach themselves from the past for good; yet, not to forget the lessons.”
The prosecutors from Moldova today brought together at the General Assembly of Prosecutors. In his speech, Alexandr Stoianoglo set forth the basic rules which the prosecutors must observe. “The Prosecutor’s Office is not the place where one can do business; Monitoring of the lifestyle; Responsibility for the state of corruption in the Prosecutor’s Offices lies with the chief prosecutor,” Stoianoglo said.
Also, the prosecutor general noted that the prosecutors should learn three lessons from the past, so that the old errors never repeat. The Lesson No 1: Non-involvement in political trials. Lesson No 2: The work of the Prosecutor’s Office must unfold in strict accordance with the law; Lesson No 3: The criminal prosecution must be carried out in the light of prioritizing the fundamental human rights,” the official said.
The prosecutor general urged the prosecutors to detach themselves from the past for good, but not to forget the lessons. “Time has come to edify another Prosecutor’s Office, in the service of the people,” Stoianoglo added.
