Exhibition of Martisors inaugurated at headquarters of Moldova's parliament

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition with sale of Martisors (trinkets worn in honour of 1 March), made by popular craftsmen from various regions of Moldova, was organized at the headquarters of the parliament today, the legislative body’s communication and public relations general department has reported.
In this way, the parliament marked one of the most beloved holidays of Moldova’s people – the Martisor – the messenger of the spring.
The exhibition titled, The spring which united us, brought together numerous guests and participants, representatives of different ethnic groups. The Martisors made in traditional style preserved, at the same time, distinct elements of the ethnic minorities to which the handicraftsmen belong.
The head of the parliament’s commission for culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media, Adrian Lebedinschi, welcomed the protagonists and guests of the exhibition. He said that Martisor was the holiday representing the Moldovans and which was part of the country’s national cultural heritage. At the same time, Lebedinschi noted that the fact that Martisor had been included in UNOESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was worth being pride of and the highest appreciation.
Lawmaker Arina Spataru hailed the popular craftsmen and the artisans and thanked them for the fact that, on the eve of 1 March, they had given visitors possibility to buy Martisors, made with soul and talent, for dear people.
The head of the popular craftsmen from Gagauzia, Nicolai Croitor, a popular craftswoman from Balti, Ina Motrescu, thanked the organizers for the nice occasion to display their works at the parliament’s headquarters.
