Joint Control Commission holds weekly meeting

Chisinau, 29 February /MOLDPRES/ - Russia’s representatives, at the 27 February meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC), withdrew their proposal formulated in July 2019, in order to overcome the long-lasting blockage established because of the opposing of the Transnistrian region’s delegation. The proposal regarded the analysis of the state of things in the Security Zone as a result the presence of illegal ‘’border guards’’’ posts, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The head of the Russian delegation, Andrey Gorobtsov, informed that he was working on a new version of his proposal, which according to him, would be accepted by all JCC components and will de-block the work of the Commission.
As for the subject on the way of work of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces placed on both banks of Dniester nearby the Vadul lui Voda settlement, the co-head of the Commission entrusted the Joint Military Command with the task to visit the Forces, in order to take knowledge and present possible solutions in the organization of these posts, which is to ensure the free movement of residents.
The OSCE Mission’s representatives informed, in written form, about the intention to make, in March, fact-collecting visits to the Joint General Staff and the posts of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
Moldova’s delegation informed the other two sides that, on 2 March 2020, actions on commemoration of those who died in the Transnistria War from 1992 would be held in the Corjova village, with a demand to maintain public order during the event with the forces of the territorial subdivisions of the law-enforcement bodies and the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
The participants in the meeting approved the report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for the period 19-25 February 2020. The decision on another six reports was postponed. Also, the Joint Military Command was not ready to report about the fulfillment of another three instructions received from the Joint Control Commission, noting that work was carried out on them.
In another context, one JCC member on behalf of the Transnistrian region and two military observers on behalf of Russia were replaced at the meeting.
