Moldovan president chairs first meeting of single command centre for managing crisis triggered by COVID-19

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon, accompanied by Prime Minister Ion Chicu, on 11 March paid a visit to the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), where he chaired the first meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus, the presidential press service has reported.
Attending the meeting were the cabinet members and the heads of a string of departments directly involved in diverse actions for preventing the spread of the virus and for identifying the already infected people.
The officials discussed the present situation in Moldova, examined in detail the four scenarios, made public on 11 March and according to which the events might take place. In particular, the sides considered possibilities of the medical system to hospitalize and treat all patients, if the number of contaminated people increases. Also, the participants in the meeting found out that the situation was under the authorities’ control.
At the same time, the interlocutors ruled that the operative meetings of the single command centre be held twice per day, in the morning and in the evening, under the leadership of the president or prime minister. At the same time, Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu each morning will inform the public about the situation as to coronavirus.
