Moldovan president inspects works on reconstruction of Chisinau belt road

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today inspected the works of capital reconstruction of a 6.5-km-long segment of the M2 national road, which bypasses Chisinau from the west and is part of the belt road. It is one of the three segments which will be capitally repaired this year – from the entrance into the Ialoveni town up to the Buiucani district of the capital (Sculeni district) and further, up to the intersection at the entrance into Cricova.   

According to the presidential press service, the head of state said that, in 2020, a record sum – over 2.7 billion lei – would be allocated from the Road Fund for roads’ restoration; additionally – over one billion lei will be earmarked for the Good Roads programme, within which each settlement will receive at least one million lei.

Also, Igor Dodon said that, this week, the sides had ended the negotiations on the agreement on crediting with Russia. As early as next week, the sides intend to sign the acts on the getting of 200 million euros for roads’ restoration. The head of state stressed that these means would additionally allow starting the capital reconstruction of more than 340 km of roads, including two segments of the belt road, which will allow easing the traffic in the Moldovan capital.   

At the same time, the president noted that Moldova’s authorities would identify another 700-800 million lei for all national roads, given that the construction of modern and qualitative roads is the main factor of the development of the network of transport and logistics, as well as of the economy on the whole. Igor Dodon also reiterated that the comprehensive programme on roads’ reconstruction had been launched at his initiative, in order to give an impetus to the development of the economy and for the creation of thousands of jobs.  

The head of state highlighted that, on the period 2020-2021, it was planned to complete the works on construction of several national road segments: Chisinau – Ungheni; Balti-Falesti-Sculeni; Balti-Sarateni, as well as several segments of the highway Chisinau-Giurgiulesti, the bypass road from Comrat and the highway Comrat-Vulcanesti.
