Eight cases of COVID-19 registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - The number of COVID-19 cases has reached eight in Moldova. The two infected people detected today have recently returned from Italy. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made public this information at the end of a meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to Dumbraveanu, another 20 people suspected of COVID-19 have been put at the Toma Ciorba hospital in the last hours. Samples were collected from all patients.
The official noted that the health condition of the patients with COVID-19 was of medium gravity and the dynamic was positive.
The World Health Organization on 11 March informed that the COVID-19 epidemic can be declared pandemic and the Moldovan authorities today established red code of alert nationally as to the epidemiological situation through the infection with the new coronavirus.
Also today, the authorities ruled to cease all flights from Spain and France starting from the night of 14 to 15 March and beginning from 16 March, the flights from and to Europe will be ceased.
