Forty six suspect COVID-19 cases recorded in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - There are 46 people suspect of infection with COVID-19 virus in hospitals of Moldova, of whom 12 children and two mothers. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made statements to this effect at the end of a meeting of the Focal Post.

According to Dumbraveanu, samples have been taken from all people suspected of infection with Coronavirus, which were submitted to the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP). The minister noted that all cases, including the suspect ones, had been of import so far and no local spread was recorded.    

The official repeatedly called on citizens to be responsible and observe the authorities’ instructions, but especially the ones of the medical staff. Dumbraveanu reminded to the parents that the children were not in holidays and urged them to avoid crowded places, as well as play ones.  

The minister also said that the health condition of the eight patients with COVID-19 was of medium gravity and they were in positive dynamic. None of the patients are with assisted breathing.

The World Health Organization informed that the COVID-19 epidemic can be declared as pandemic. Eight confirmed cases of Coronavirus have been confirmed in Moldova till 14 March. According to data by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, starting from 31 December 2019 till 12 March 2020, as many as 133,860 cases of infection with the new-type Coronavirus (COVID-19) (clinically confirmed and laboratory ones) and 4,967 deaths were reported. As many as 3,179 of these deaths are in China, Italy (1, 016), Iran (429), Spain (84), South Korea (67), France (61), USA (40), Japan (19),  the United Kingdom e (10), Iraq (8), cases from the Japan international transport (7), Germany, the Netherlands, San Marino (5 each), Switzerland (4), Australia, Belgium (3 each), Egypt, Philippines (2 each), Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Greece, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Morocco, Norway, Panama, Poland, Sweden, Taiwan and Thailand (1each).
