Joint Control Commission holds weekly meeting in Bender

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - A new meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place in Bender on 12 March, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
In the context of the promotion of the subject on the situation emerged in Security Zone on the Commission’s agenda, as a result of the unilateral setting of the illegal ‘’border guards’’ posts by the Transnistrian side, the delegation of Russia promised that it would come up with a viable proposal at the next meeting of the JCC co-heads, planned for 17 March, in the presence of the representatives of Ukraine and OSCE Mission.
During the consideration of the report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for 4-10 March 2020, the participants in the meeting discussed in detail the incident which had taken place at the post No 9 of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, placed on the right bank of Dniester nearby the Vadul lui Voda settlement. Thus, the driver of a mini-bus made a maneuver of turning and stopped at the post to take a passenger and this fact triggered a conflict with the members of the team of peacekeepers. The Tiraspol delegation in the Commission attached to the incident a political connotation and used it as an occasion to reiterate the intentions aimed at increasing the strengths of peacekeepers and re-launching the patrol of the air space of the Security Zone, which will negatively influence the peacekeeping mechanism.
Also, the Commission instructed the Joint Military Command to elaborate a plan of measures needed to ensure protection against the spread of coronavirus infection in the environment of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
At the same time, the Commission approved a list of acts due to be included in a comprehensive collection of acts issued within the peacekeeping operation in the last four years.
