Twelve cases of COVID-19 registered in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ -Twelve cases of COVID-19 are recorded in Moldova. Three out of the four infected people, detected today, have returned from abroad, while one is of local spread. Health, Labour and Social Protection Minister Viorica Dumbraveanu today made statements to this effect at the end of a meeting of the single command centre for the management of the crisis triggered by the COVID-19 virus.
According to Dumbraveanu, in the last hours, 48 samples have been examined from people suspected of infection with COVID-19 at the laboratory of the National Public Health Agency (ANSP). At the same time, two children who contacted with their grandmother, who has recently returned from Italy, are put in the hospital of contagious diseases.
The official asked the people who return to Moldova from the states hit by COVID-19 to isolate themselves and avoid the contact including with the relatives. Dumbraveanu said the health condition of the patients hit by COVID-19 was of medium gravity and the dynamic was positive.
The World Health Organization informed that the COVID-19 epidemic can be declared pandemic and the Moldovan authorities established a red code of alert nationally as to the epidemiological situation concerning the infection with the new coronavirus.
Also on 13 March, the authorities ruled to cease all flights from Spain and France from the night of 14 to 15 March and all flights to and from Europe will be ceased as of 16 March.
