Socialist candidate won parliamentary elections from Hancesti

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- Socialist candidate Ștefan Gaţcan won MP seat after the new parliamentary elections on Sunday in Hâncești. 5,539 citizens have opted for him, thus overtaking PAS candidate Olesea Stamate, who has got 4,554 votes.

The Central Election Commission presented the first preliminary results for the new parliamentary elections in the uninominal electoral constituency No38, Hancesti. After processing 44 of 44 reports, the voters' votes were distributed as follows: Ion Mereuță, the Democratic Party of Moldova - 1,810 votes, Stefan Gațcan, the Socialist Party of Moldova - 5,539, Olesea Stamate, the Action and Solidarity Party – 4,554, Dorin Chirtoaca, UNIREA bloc – 346 and independent candidate Grigore Cobzac – 1,792.

CEC announces that the voting process was carried out in accordance with the legal provisions, without major incidents.

According to preliminary results, about 14,400 voters or 23.33 percent of the number of voters included in the electoral lists voted on Sunday.

Under the legislation, in the case of the parliamentary elections in the uninominal constituencies, a minimum threshold for validating the ballot is not regulated. The candidate who has accumulated the highest number of valid votes cast is considered elected.
