State of emergency likely to be set up in Moldova

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Ion Chicu announced this morning that he will convene, at 4:30 pm, a meeting of the Commission for Emergencies. We will consider the opportunity to set up the state of emergency. The premier made the statement after a working meeting with President Igor Dodon and Speaker Zinaida Greceanii.
“From what is being discussed, conditions are already being created to announce the state of emergency, so that we can mobilize more resources, act with more capacities, including food supply, business entities management and other measures. If we decide, we will immediately convene the government and immediately we will address the parliament,” he said.
The premier noted that there are unprecedented actions in the history of the Republic of Moldova, and opportunities will be examined to support people suffering financial losses due to COVID-19.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, 23 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Moldova so far.
